The Samsung T7 2TB is a popular external SSD that we wanted in our series. This is Samsung\u2019s smaller and lower-cost option versus the Samsung T7 Shield<\/a>. With a USB Type-C interface at 10Gbps it is not the fastest SSD, but if you want lower cost and Samsung, this is the offering.<\/p>\n At around $139, the Samsung T7 is usually about $10 less than the T7 Shield. We have been using many T7 Shields at STH, but we started by buying the T7 instead. Something we hoped to answer was whether the T7 and T7 Shield perform in a similar manner.<\/p>\n If you just want to get a Samsung T7 2TB, here is the Amazon Affiliate Link<\/a>.<\/p>\n The drive itself is very small at 57 x 85 x 8 mm. This is notably thinner than the T7 Shield.<\/p>\n We showed in the cover image that these come in a few different colors. That is useful when you have a few of them and want them to be easy to identify.<\/p>\n On the first side, we have the USB Type-C port and a status LED.<\/p>\n Something that is painful with the Samsung SSDs is the label. This says 2TB on the end cap which is visible, but that is in a corner on the 8mm side which can be hard to see.<\/p>\n In the box we get both a USB Type-A to Type-C cable and a Type-C to Type-C cable. That may not seem like a big deal, but some competitive drives do not come with the Type-A cables.
