North American Data Center Deals<\/h2>\n

In a month where analysts said the data center industry is <\/span>racing towards a $1 trillion capex future<\/a><\/span>, new data center development announcements continued to surge across global markets.<\/span><\/p>\n

While ongoing tariff issues risk seeding uncertainty in global markets, the Trump administration <\/span>unveiled plans to use the Energy Department’s land<\/a><\/span> and resources to build AI data centers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The department said it\u2019s exploring using thousands of acres of federal land nationwide that are positioned to quickly develop data centers, in part because the government can fast-track permitting for nuclear reactors and other power plants to run the facilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In other news, <\/span>Microsoft<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>Amazon<\/span><\/span> once again hit industry headlines. Despite reports suggesting the two biggest players in cloud computing <\/span>would be slowing down AI infrastructure spending<\/a><\/span>, strong Q3 earnings reports quelled fears of weakening demand for AI-related services. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company was still <\/span>on track to reach $80 billion capex<\/a><\/span>, a figure that is expected to rise next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Providing some context around recent construction slowdown headlines, <\/span>Omdia<\/span><\/span>\u2019s Alan Howard <\/span>told <\/a><\/span>Data Center Knowledge<\/a><\/span> that adjustments reflect evolving business relationships and long-term land banking strategies rather than broader market weakness.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Wisconsin, <\/span>Meta<\/span><\/span> has <\/span>reportedly<\/a><\/span> committed to spending nearly $1 billion to develop a new data center. Earlier this year, the state struck an incentive deal with an unnamed company using an alias to build a data center with a multiyear investment of $837 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking to the southwest, Mesa, Arizona, will soon host <\/span>NTT Global Data Centers<\/span><\/span>\u2019 expansion, the Arizona Republic <\/span>berichtet<\/a><\/span>. Mesa City Council approved 173 acres of land for the company, part of Japan\u2019s NTT Group, to build new data halls, a warehouse, and an office building. Meta, Google, and Amazon all have data center projects in Mesa.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joining those companies,<\/span> Edged <\/span><\/span>celebrated the <\/span>topping out<\/a><\/span> of a new data center in Mesa. The facility aims to be one of the most water-efficient data centers in the region, estimated to conserve 142 gallons of water per year thanks to its waterless cooling system.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Glendale, Arizona, <\/span>Aligned Data Centers<\/span><\/span> broke ground on a new data center <\/span>powered entirely by renewables<\/a><\/span>. One of four planned facilities on the company\u2019s 100-acre campus, PHX-13, will capture and remove heat at its source, and will minimize its water consumption by recycling water in its closed-loop cooling system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, <\/span>Soluna<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Holdings<\/span><\/span> <\/span>is expanding its portfolio of wind-powered data centers<\/a><\/span> with the launch of Project Hedy, a new 120 MW facility that will be colocated with a 200 MW wind farm in Cameron County, South Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Digital Realty<\/span><\/span> <\/span>filed paperwork<\/a><\/span> to rezone 156 acres of woodland in Charlotte, North Carolina, to allow for a new data center site. The company currently operates a 2 MW facility in Charlotte.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apple <\/span><\/span>will invest in a<\/span> $175 million data center<\/a><\/span> expansion on land the company already owns in Maiden, North Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boilingbroke Technology Center<\/span><\/span> <\/span>proposed a 900-acre development<\/a><\/span> in Monroe County, Georgia, for a new data center campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

European Data Center Developments<\/h2>\n

In <\/span>Europe<\/a><\/span>, investment in data center infrastructure continues to boom. A report from the European Data Centre Association (EUDCA) <\/span>found demand for data center capacity across Europe rising at a record pace<\/a><\/span>, driven by AI adoption, digital transformation, and the accelerating shift to cloud and edge computing. With that demand comes a host of challenges, especially in terms of energy availability, workforce development, and regulatory cohesion.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other news, <\/span>CyrusOne <\/span><\/span>has announced plans for a \u00a054MW data center<\/a><\/span> in Milan. Named MIL2, the data center is the company\u2019s second in the Italian city. MIL2 will run entirely on renewable energy and use a closed-loop cooling system to achieve low PUE.<\/span><\/p>\n

In France, <\/span>Telehouse International<\/span><\/span> has completed a new phase in the development of its Magny 2 data center, located at its TH3 Paris Magny campus. The investment includes the availability of a new high-density AI-ready infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yondr Group <\/span><\/span>has<\/span> completed the first phase of construction<\/a><\/span> at its second data center on its 100 MW London campus. The facility now has 10 MW of its 30 MW capacity live and operational.<\/span><\/p>\n

North Lincolnshire in the UK is also looking at the prospect of a <\/span>second data center<\/a><\/span>. Predicting up to 1 GW of IT load capacity, and providing up to 1,000 full-time equivalent jobs when fully operational, the proposed data center near Elsham Wolds is seeking a screening opinion for an environmental impact assessment, the first step toward securing development approval.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Europe, <\/span>Data Facilities Data Centers<\/span><\/span> (DFDC) <\/span>brought 1.75 MW of power online at DCDF The Hague<\/a><\/span>, reaching a milestone in the Netherlands-based company\u2019s 3.5 MW expansion plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Sweden,<\/span> EcoDataCenter<\/span><\/span> <\/span>sold two facilities<\/a><\/span> to <\/span>CapMan Infra<\/span><\/span> in an effort to streamline its focus on data center design, construction, and operations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
Construction of data centers in Eastern Europe has accelerated, as France-based <\/span>Eviden <\/span><\/span>has <\/span>signed a $50 million contract<\/a><\/span> to build Serbia\u2019s national AI factory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a new data center in Armenia <\/span>plans to use the natural cooling of a gorge<\/a><\/span> to reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 30-50% versus traditional data centers. <\/span>VSDATA<\/span><\/span> will launch its data center by the end of the year, hosting 125 racks with colocation services coming next year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Asia-Pacific Data Center Builds<\/h2>\n

In <\/span>Asia-Pacific<\/a><\/span> data center news, Telangana\u2019s Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced that <\/span>NTT India <\/span><\/span>and <\/span>Neysa Networks <\/span><\/span>have <\/span>signed an agreement<\/a><\/span> with the government to build a 400 MW data center cluster in Hyderabad. The facility will be designed to host India\u2019s most powerful AI supercomputing infrastructure with 25,000 GPUs.<\/span><\/p>\n

CtrlS Datacenters <\/span><\/span>hosted a virtual groundbreaking<\/a><\/span> ceremony for its new facility in Madhya Pradesh, India, at Tech Growth Conclave 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Malaysia, sustainability-minded <\/span>EdgePoint Towers <\/span><\/span>marked a significant milestone<\/a><\/span>, launching its first solar hybrid site with 5.9 kW peak capacity. The company plans to complete several other hybrid and full-solar sites by the year\u2019s end.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SoftBank Japan<\/span><\/span> <\/span>held a groundbreaking ceremony<\/a><\/span> for the Hokkaido Tomakomai AI Data Center, expected to become one of Japan\u2019s largest data centers. At 700,000 sq.m and with a power capacity expected to exceed 300 MW, the facility is central to the company\u2019s \u2018Brain Data Center\u2019 concept, an initiative to decentralize data processing and energy consumption in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

In major Australian data center news, <\/span>Blackstone<\/span><\/span> <\/span>is in talks to divest itself of two facilities in Sydney and Melbourne<\/a><\/span>. The report follows the company\u2019s acquisition of <\/span>AirTrunk<\/span><\/span>, one of the biggest digital infrastructure transactions globally last year. Proceeds from any sale would reportedly be used to help fund AirTrunk\u2019s expansion plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Middle East and Africa Data Center Investments<\/h2>\n

Large-scale projects in the Middle East and Africa are underway as the regions seem poised for a digital explosion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pan-African technology company <\/span>Cassava <\/span><\/span>and<\/span> Nvidia <\/span><\/span>will deploy the continent\u2019s first AI factory in South Africa<\/a><\/span>, estimated to cost $720 million, with plans to build additional data centers in Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, and Morocco.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aiming to herald Africa\u2019s technology potential, infrastructure company<\/span> Equinix<\/span><\/span> <\/span>launched a data center in Lagos, Nigeria<\/a><\/span>. The company plans to develop more data centers elsewhere on the continent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Khazna<\/span><\/span> <\/span>continued its UAE expansion<\/a><\/span> with groundbreakings on two new AI-ready facilities in Abu Dhabi: AUH4 in Mafraq and AUH8 in Masdar City. The digital infrastructure company\u2019s new data centers are projected to be completed by the end of next year and will provide a combined 60 MW of capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at the recent Dubai AI Week, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company <\/span>announced a new hyperscale data center<\/a><\/span> in collaboration with <\/span>Microsoft<\/span><\/span>.
