That global IT failure sparked a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/software\/crowdstrike-faces-shareholder-lawsuit-after-global-it-failure\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/software\/crowdstrike-faces-shareholder-lawsuit-after-global-it-failure\"><u>shareholder lawsuit<\/u><\/a> as well as a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/infrastructure\/delta-sues-crowdstrike-for-usd500-million-in-damages-claims-cutting-corners-caused-infamous-july-outage\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/infrastructure\/delta-sues-crowdstrike-for-usd500-million-in-damages-claims-cutting-corners-caused-infamous-july-outage\"><u>$500 million damages suit from customer Delta<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"hawk-base\"\/>\n<p>The company is choosing to look to the future with a strategic plan to &#8220;evolve its operations to yield greater efficiencies&#8221; and scale the business to reach that $10bn ARR goal, CrowdStrike said in a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001535527\/000110465925045244\/tm2514190d1_8k.htm\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001535527\/000110465925045244\/tm2514190d1_8k.htm\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"><u>filing<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When CrowdStrike posted its <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.crowdstrike.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/crowdstrike-reports-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-2025\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/ir.crowdstrike.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/crowdstrike-reports-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-2025\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"><u>fourth quarter and fiscal year 2025 results<\/u><\/a> in March, the company said it had grown ARR year-over-year 23% to $4.24bn, with full year operating cash flow of $1.38bn.<\/p>\n<p>A first step in achieving that $10bn ARR goal will require slashing 500 roles, or about 5% of the company&#8217;s global workforce, though CrowdStrike added that it expects to hire in &#8220;key strategic areas&#8221; over the next year.<\/p>\n<p>CEO George Kurtz said in a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1535527\/000110465925045244\/tm2514190d1_ex99-1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1535527\/000110465925045244\/tm2514190d1_ex99-1.htm\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"><u>note to staff<\/u><\/a> that hiring will focus on customer facing roles and product engineering.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are realigning parts of our business to continue scaling with focus and discipline,&#8221; Kurtz added. &#8220;These changes position us to move faster, operate more efficiently, and continue our <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/security\/28133\/what-is-cyber-security\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/security\/28133\/what-is-cyber-security\">cybersecurity <\/a>leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-TLypjjxtxH9x8SUaDDrXRB\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-TLypjjxtxH9x8SUaDDrXRB slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Sign up today and you will receive a free copy of our Future Focus 2025 report &#8211; the leading guidance on AI, cybersecurity and other IT challenges as per 700+ senior executives<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"crowdstrike-eyes-strategic-ai-gains-3\">CrowdStrike eyes strategic AI gains<\/h2>\n<p>Under a section titled &#8220;why we&#8217;re doing this&#8221;, Kurtz discussed the impact of AI, saying it was a market and technology inflection point, adding that CrowdStrike was building on &#8220;what works&#8221; and &#8220;doubling down on our highest-impact opportunities&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>That includes focusing on expanding growth areas such as identity, cloud, and exposure management, as well as investing in &#8220;go-to-market&#8221; and customer facing roles to help deliver a faster return on investment and better outcomes for customers. But alongside those points, Kurtz pointed to the need to invest further in AI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/strategy\/28181\/what-is-ai\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/strategy\/28181\/what-is-ai\">AI <\/a>has always been foundational to how we operate,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;AI flattens our hiring curve, and helps us innovate from idea to product faster. It streamlines go-to-market, improves customer outcomes, and drives efficiencies across both the front and back office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve never been more optimistic about our future as I am right now. What I know, and what I believe the market knows, is that in an AI-accelerated society, the world needs CrowdStrike more than ever,\u201d he later added.<\/p>\n<p>Kurtz \u2014 who <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/aflcio.org\/paywatch\/CRWD\" data-url=\"https:\/\/aflcio.org\/paywatch\/CRWD\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"><u>reportedly<\/u><\/a> made just shy of $47m in 2024 \u2014 thanked those who were departing the company in the letter to staff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re grateful for your contributions to our mission.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The mention of the strategic impact of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/business\/business-strategy\/we-re-focusing-on-high-growth-areas-is-the-new-you-re-no-longer-needed\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.com\/business\/business-strategy\/we-re-focusing-on-high-growth-areas-is-the-new-you-re-no-longer-needed\"><u>AI alongside job cuts<\/u><\/a> echoes previous announcements by tech companies.
