{"id":6237,"date":"2025-05-19T21:11:02","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T13:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cicserver.com\/google-signs-600mw-solar-energy-deal-in-south-carolina\/"},"modified":"2025-05-19T21:11:02","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T13:11:02","slug":"google-signs-600mw-solar-energy-deal-in-south-carolina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cicserver.com\/de\/google-signs-600mw-solar-energy-deal-in-south-carolina\/","title":{"rendered":"Google signs 600MW solar energy deal in South Carolina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.datacenterdynamics.com\/media\/images\/Google_Data_Center.2e16d0ba.fill-750x500.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p data-block-key=\"u8bfq\">Google has signed an energy deal to procure renewable energy credits (RECs) in South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"8ssta\">Renewables developer EnergyRe has signed a renewable energy agreement that allows Google to invest in and purchase RECs from a portfolio of more than 600 MW of new solar and solar with storage projects being developed by EnergyRe in South Carolina.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-block-key=\"eq3tm\">&#8220;Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on,\u201d said Amanda Peterson Corio, head of data center energy, Google. \u201cOur collaboration with EnergyRe will help power our data centers and the broader economic growth of South Carolina.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"d760d\">\u201cThis agreement is a milestone in EnergyRe\u2019s mission to develop innovative and impactful clean energy solutions for the future,\u201d added Miguel Prado, CEO of EnergyRe. \u201cWe\u2019re honored to partner with Google to help advance their ambitious sustainability and decarbonization objectives while delivering dependable, locally sourced clean energy to meet growing energy demands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"e696d\">The deal is Google\u2019s second with EnergyRe, which combined a total of more than 1GWac of capacity. Last year Google signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-inks-three-ppas-across-the-us-and-india\/\">12-year PPA<\/a> with EnergyRe to purchase energy from an unnamed 435MW solar project.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"f7sbn\">This year Google has signed PPAs across the US, Asia, and Europe with the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-and-shell-sign-ppa-for-repowered-offshore-wind-farm-in-the-netherlands\/\">Shell<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-signs-first-offshore-wind-ppa-in-taiwan-with-copenhagen-infrastructure-partners\/\">CIP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-signs-10mw-geothermal-ppa-with-baseload-capital-in-taiwan\/\">Baseload Capital<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-signs-35mw-wind-ppa-with-exus-renewables-in-spain\/\">Exus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-signs-ppa-with-leeward-to-power-oklahoma-data-center-operations\/\">Leeward<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-signs-onshore-wind-ppa-with-apex-in-virginia\/\">Apex<\/a>. The company has also signed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/google-partners-with-recoolit-and-cool-effect-to-remove-25000-tons-of-super-pollutants-by-2030\/\">multiple<\/a> carbon capture and removal deals.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"d5aa1\">EnergyRe has some 16GW of renewable energy capacity in development across the US.
