Motorola Razr Ultra – 2025 Reviews, Pros and Cons

100

If you’re looking to dip your toe into the foldable waters, I’d consider saving a few hundred and picking up last year’s Razr 50 Ultra – it’s still an exceptional phone in its own right. If you want the very best flip phone for your money, however, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is an easy recommendation.

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 actually delivers. It’s easily the most stylish phone out there, no matter your color or material vice. It’s also finally caught up to the big players with zippy performance, stellar battery life, and cameras that are no longer just an afterthought. That astonishing cover display seals the deal, making this phone more than the sum of its undeniably snazzy parts.

The Motorola Razr Ultra is a potent folding phone with two excellent displays, epic battery life, and swift performance in a thin, fun, and convenient design.

You’ll see a lot of marketing for these AI features, but they’re not the reasons to buy the Razr or Razr Ultra. Buy them if you want a small and gorgeous phone—a device with real character that’s not just another glass slab.

I really like the Motorola Razr Ultra, but it’s hard to recommend for $1,300. If you’re comfortable with the limited software support and serviceable cameras, then go for the phone. It’s fun to use, looks sharp, built well and probably one of the most unique phones you can buy today. But I think most people looking for a Razr foldable will be fine with the Motorola Razr Plus. It’s still $1,000, and currently on sale, and is largely the same as when it came out in 2024.

From performance and battery life to the stunning design, this is the flip phone to get, at least for now.

Foldable phones don’t come cheap, and this is the first true flagship phone that you can fold in half. That’s a very big deal. I think the biggest miss in this generation of Razr is the lack of notable upgrades on the lower two devices, despite retaining the same price tag. But if you want the very best flip style foldable you can buy, this is your first and only choice. Everything I asked for on the last generation has been improved, and Motorola just launched the best foldable phone you can buy. If you were waiting for foldables to come uncompromised, your wait is over.

“Ultra” is in the eye of the beholder, really. If a flip phone with a stacked spec sheet and a gorgeous exterior finish sounds Ultra enough, this Razr will delight you. It’s hard to argue that case for anyone who’s more casually interested in a flip phone, especially considering the caliber of slab-style phone you could get for $1,300. But this phone is awfully special as an object, a tool, and a thing of beauty.

Compared to Samsung’s flip phone, this one offers a much superior cover screen experience, which is crucial. The battery boost, fast charging speeds and zippy performance are all nice quality of life upgrades too. We don’t think the camera is phenomenal, but it’s better than before.

With the Razr Ultra 2025, Motorola set out to not only create the best flip phone ever, but arguably one of the best phones of 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite and 16GB of RAM provide stellar performance, and improvements to the camera, battery, and charging really take it to another level. Moto AI could use a little tweaking, but it offers a fairly comprehensive suite of features in addition to Google AI/Gemini capabilities. That said, with all this power comes a high price tag, which may understandably turn some consumers away.
